A mare is capable of having a foal from the age of 18 months
A mare is capable of having a foal from the age of 18 months, but it is healthier to wait till approximately age 4. By then, the mare has reached her full size so it is safer for her to deliver babies. She may continue having foals until she is in her late twenties. The recipient mares our team works with are always at least 3 years old, but are usually around the age of 5 or 6.
