Birth of a modern damline

At Scuderia Sonnevend we are proud of our carefully selected broodmare selection. We chose to breed with these magnificent horses because of their extraordinary showjumping qualities and the outstanding performance of their offspring.

This is how our Oh D’Eole and China Touch Hero became the backbones of our broodmare selection. We combine each of them with TOP 30 WBFSH sires so that they can bring out the best from their breeding career. In addition, there are also self-bred broodmares in our stable with just as outstanding bloodlines.

Oh d’Eole the mare by Kannan (Voltaire) x Eole Des Bruyeres (Papillon Rouge) has competed at the highest level of the sport, even at LGCT 1.60m level for several years with Olympic riders like McLain Ward, Michel Robert, Kevin Staut, Gregory Wathelet and German champion Marc Bettinger.

Oh d’Eole has been known by the equestrian community as one of the fastest horses top-level in the competition, and has victories from all over the world on her record: Shanghai, Lyon, Bourg-en-Bresse, Barcelona, Magna Racino and Spruce Meadows are among the destinations she won big classes with her different riders.

Exceptional bloodline

  • Oh d’Eole’s father Kannan, who himself had a great international career up to 1.60m, has amongst his offspring LGCT GP winners, World Champions and even an Olympic gold medallist: Nino des Buissonets
  • Her grandfather, Voltaire jumped 1.50m with great success at just 8 years old in the 1980s! He won the Samsung Super League and he was also French National Champion
  • The Furioso II and legendary Gotthard cross resulted in Voltaire being the first of the super star performance stallions
  • Most famously, Voltaire has won the Grand Prix of Berlin on 1989 with Jos Lansink, but also showed his strength in Calgary, Stockholm, Lanaken, Helsinki, Wiesbaden and Wembley
  • On the other side of her pedigree, her grandfather Papillon Rouge, coming from the same breeding program as Quidam de Revel, was one of the most successful jumping sires in the world
  • Eole des Bruyeres is the dam of Oh d’Eole and also the daughter of Papillon, who has had around 40 1.60m performers on international level.
