Birth of a modern damline
At Scuderia Sonnevend we are proud of our carefully selected broodmare selection. We chose to breed with these magnificent horses because of their extraordinary showjumping qualities and the outstanding performance of their offspring.
This is how our Oh D’Eole and China Touch Hero became the backbones of our broodmare selection. We combine each of them with TOP 30 WBFSH sires so that they can bring out the best from their breeding career. In addition, there are also self-bred broodmares in our stable with just as outstanding bloodlines.
Tosca SA Z definitely has shoes to fill! This 2020 filly has two generations full of 1.70m-1.50m performers both on her dam’s as well as her sire’s side!
Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z is currently one of the most successful showjumpers worldwide with 11(!) wins on 1.60m, including the World Cup Final of Göteborg, the GCL of Rome, as well as the 5* of Wellington just to name a few. This upcoming stallion already has his oldest offspring jumping 1.50m like it is easy, making him the top favourite of the Stephex Stables.
Evita van‘t Zoggehof, bred by Golden Hawk (who famously jumped clear at Hickstead derby ’19) has jumped the biggest GPs in the world with her Italian rider, Lorenzo Di Luca. She has shown her strength already as a young horse, winning the Brussels Masters and went on to win Aachen 1.50m at only 8-years-old! She has definitely shown her competitive mind she inherited from her granddam, Fragance de Chalus.
Exceptional bloodline
- Tobago Z inherited his mom’s, Whoopie C’s quick reflexes, and his father’s, Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve’s impeccable technique. This helped him to maintain control when under pressure that had led him to compete at high levels
- Three of the world’s show jumping greats feature in his pedigree: Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve/Roelof Bril (NED), Mr Blue/Bert Romp (NED) and Feinschnitt I Z/Luis Astolfi (ESP)
- Via the valuable sire Furioso Z (by Furioso II/Gotthard) the roots lead back to BWP family 21, which produced an abundance of top sport horses
- From a generation further, Tangelo delivers many champions and his lineage is also top class: Narcos II, Laudanum XX, Ramiro, Almé and Gotthard
- On the dam’s side, Golden Hawk has several progeny competing internationally up to1.60m level with many up & coming exciting young horses such as Tosca Z’s first dam,
Evita van ‘t Zoggehof - Golden Hawk’s dam Ta Belle van Sombeke is by Chin Chin and herself competed at 1.60m with Jos Lansik. Amongst Golden Hawk, Ta Belle van Sombeke has bred 7 other 1.60m horses and several at 1.40m
- Evita van’t Zoggehof herself has jumped 1.60m level with easy, first showing her talents as a young horse by winning the Brussels Masters
- Both Evita van’ Zoggehof and Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z has won the 5* Wellington event in Florida! Now that is some pedigree…
